Moodabidri: In a shocking and disturbing incident, a man has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for sexually assaulting his teenaged daughter.

The accused has been identified as Vikram Pillai, a native of Kerala. Police have informed that the man was married to a woman from Jharkhand and lived in Puchchemegoru with their 14-year-old daughter.

The incident came to light after the family’s neighbours noticed that the daughter had been sleeping outside the house for the last few days and informed the police. Despite several attempts by the police, the girl would not open up about what was happening until she was taken for counselling at a child protection centre. Here during counselling, the girl revealed that she was being sexually assaulted by her father.

The police then booked the father under the POCSO Act based on the statement given by the girl. Pillai, however, has denied her claims and maintains that he is innocent. He even insisted that a DNA test be conducted to prove his claims.
