Goat fuels fight between neighbours; Family of three assaulted by youth in Ullal

Ullal: A trivial issue of goat eating away plants in the neighbourhood led to an attack on an entire family by a youth who lives next door, at Belaringe here on Wednesday evening.

The victim family is of Janardhan Alva (70), his wife Pushpavathi (60) and their son Ajith (30). The accused is their neighbor, Safwan (28).

It is said that the goat reared by Safwan was becoming a nuisance as it would walk into the compound of the Alva family and eat away areca saplings planted by the family. When Janardhan Alva visited Safwan’s house and urged them to tie up the goat so that their plants could survive, the plea fell on deaf ears. On Wednesday too the goat ventured into the compound and destroyed some plants. Raged by this Janardhan Alva had shunned the goat away.

Making this an issue, Safwan resorted to hitting Janardhan Alva’s dog on Wednesday evening. When Janardhan Alva questioned him, he hit Alva with the same iron rod. Pushpavathi and Ajith, who rushed to Janardhan Alva’s rescue, too were not spared. The injured family members are undergoing treatment in a hospital at Deralakatte.

Ullal police have registered a case.
