Kasargod: Railway officials seized 2kg of gold hidden in Selfie stick illegally and arrested three persons here on Monday at Palakkad Railway station. The estimated value of the gold seized is Rs 48 lakhs.
The arrested are Mohammad Yasin from Kozhikode, Mohammad Iqbal from Kasargod, Arafath from Hosadurga and Abdul Rasheed.
They were allegedly carrying gold in Mangaluru-Chennai train. On the way they had a difference of opinion and fought with each other. Meanwhile three of them planned to escape with the gold. Railway security guards took them into custody and while inquired with them, the incident came to light.
The arrested have been sent for investigation.
