Mangaluru: “The government should come forward to help the financially distressed people amid lockdown in the district,” said Congress Leader, Former MLA, and Covid Taskforce Force convener Ivan D’Souza here on Wednesday, May 19.
Speaking at a news conference he said, “The government of Andhra Pradesh is delivering food and essential supplies to the doorstep of people. But there are no such schemes in Karnataka, so the electricity bill should be discounted for at least three months.”
He informed that Congress is providing groceries and other assistance to the Covid victims through the helpline.
Former Mayor Shashidhar Hegde, Mohammad Kunjattabail, Naveen D Soja, Appi, K. Bhaskara Rao, Shahul Hameed, Dixit, Ashit Perera, Arif Bawa, Muhammad Mustafa were also present.
