Mangaluru: The street vendors’ association has urged the government to release proper compensation for the street vendors, as they have not been allowed to conduct their business for the past nine days in the city.
Street vendors’ association honorary president B K Imthiyaz said that the district administration has ordered the closure of street stalls, eateries etc. as a precautionary measure to stop the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) and Cholera. Due to this, street vendors have been struggling to survive. Hence, the government should announce compensation for them immediately, he informed.
Imthiyaz also informed that many restaurants are working in the city, even though they are not maintaining cleanliness. However, the district administration has not taken any measures against them. Then, why should the district administration stop only street vendors, he questioned.
