Bantwal: State Home Minister KJ George has handed over the case of murder of autorickshaw driver and Bhajrangdal activist Rajesh Poojary to the CoD. The government has taken this step bowing to pressure from the DYFI and various other organisations which have been protesting since the past two months.
Rajesh Poojary who was the main accused in autorickshaw driver Iqbal murder case was hacked to death by a gang of assailants on March 21 morning. Soon after this, the Bhajrangdal and the VHP had staged protest demanding the arrest of the culprits. In the meantime, the police arrested three persons on the basis of evidences available at the scene of the crime. However, the DFYI , PFI and other orgnaisations had alleged that the arrested Hussain, Imran and Irshad were innocent. The organisations had also been staging protests demanding the arrest of the real killers and to undertake a CoD probe.
Even DK District Minister Ramanatha Rai had assured to consider the demand. Recently, the DYFI had also staged a protest in front of the residence of the District Minister.
