Mangaluru: The district health department seized doctor’s illegal clinic located at Surathkal for not renewing the permit, on Thursday, April 16.

According to sources, the doctor’s clinic named “Shri Raghavendra Clinic”, located at Surathkal was functioning even though its permit expired in the year 2017. The clinic has been functioning without a permit for the past three years.

Based on a tip-off, district health and family welfare officer Dr Ramachandra Bayari instructed the officials to launch a raid against the illegal clinic and ordered them to shut it down till further notice.

Meanwhile, Dr Bayari, through a press release, asked all hospitals, doctors’ clinics, laboratories, homoeopathic and Ayush clinics to renew their permits once in five years. If the registration has expired, such health institutions can apply online and renew their permits immediately. If not, action will be taken against them under the KPME Act.
