Mangaluru: Coronavirus poses a major health risk to people all over the world, especially those with a weakened immune system. While places like malls, cinema halls, pubs etc. have been ordered to shut shop for a week to curb the spread of the disease in Karnataka, people still have to travel for work and run errands.
Some travel by their personal vehicles, however, there are many who depend on public transportation to travel from point A to point B.
Since the spread of coronavirus (covid-19) can be curtailed through proper sanitization, the staff of The Cleaners HomeMaid took time off from their busy schedule to do some social work in the best way they can.
In the US and some other countries, their respective local government bodies have ordered that all public transport be sanitized every day, in order to curb the spread of covid-19. Even though there has been no such order from the government in India, on Saturday, March 14, the staff members, as well as the management, of The Cleaners HomeMaid voluntarily set out to disinfect the buses in Mangaluru city as a service to the general public.
The private cleaning company cancelled all the orders for the day, and the entire team approached bus drivers, conductors and owners of buses and volunteered their services.
Glass windows and rods of around 120 buses at the State Bank bus stand were sprayed with disinfectants. At the KSRTC bus depot, the team cleaned around 50 buses and office cabins.
The team also cleaned the children’s play area and exercise equipment at Kardi Park.
Speaking to newskarnataka.com, Managing Director at The Cleaners HomeMaid Rabeez Yusuf said, “We decided to find public places where a lot of people gather. We wanted to help the public. Since kids and some people have holidays, we assumed that they might go to the park and so we also decided to disinfect all surfaces, especially in the kids’ play area, as children’s immune systems are weaker than that of the adults’.”
