Heartless miscreants discard poisoned monkeys on road, flee

Moodbidri: In a shocking incident, miscreants discarded 12 poisoned monkeys on the road leading to Baradi Kambala.

After they were alerted, forest officials rushed to the spot and found that six of the monkeys had died. Treatment was administered to the survivors by Dr Yashaswi from Pilikula, who rushed to the scene upon receiving news of the incident.

Three of the surviving monkeys recovered fast and were released back into the forest, while the bodies of the six monkeys that died were buried in the premises of the forest department.

According to the locals, the miscreants who discarded the poisoned monkeys arrived in a Maruti Omni van and sped away immediately after disposing of the animals.

A suo motu case will be registered against the miscreants by the forest officials.
