Mangaluru woke up to a tumultuous morning as heavy rain, thunder, lightning, and strong winds lashed various parts of the city and its outskirts. The downpour, which occurred between 4 and 5:30 am, wreaked havoc, with trees falling and blocking roads in rural areas, leading to significant traffic disruptions. Additionally, the inclement weather caused damage to electricity poles, resulting in power outages across several parts of Mangalore city.

The Meteorological Department has issued a statement forecasting thundershowers accompanied by strong winds in multiple districts including Dakshina Kannada, Chikkamagaluru, Davanagere, Hassan, Kodagu, Shimoga, Tumkur, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada. Residents are urged to exercise caution and stay indoors if possible during this period of adverse weather conditions.

Authorities are working diligently to clear roads obstructed by fallen trees and restore electricity supply in affected areas. Commuters are advised to plan their travel accordingly and stay updated on weather advisories.

As the region braces for continued rainfall and potential weather-related challenges, residents are reminded to prioritize safety and take necessary precautions to mitigate any risks associated with the ongoing inclement weather.
