Puttur: Religious institutions like temples, churches, mosques, basadis and bhajana mandirs in Puttur have been placed under high alert by the Puttur police after the serial bomb blasts in Sri Lanka.
Puttur circle inspector, Shashikumar convened a meeting of the representatives of the various places of worship of the city to discuss security aspects.
Addressing the gathering, Shashikumar said that the religious institutions should appoint security guards whenever large crowds are expected to gather at their premises for festivals or other programmes so that proper checking can be done at the entrances.
If the security personnel come across a suspicious person, they are to immediately inform the police of the same.
More than 40 representatives from various religious institutions were present at the meeting.
