Mangaluru: A young ‘hijab’ clad girl who visited a church along with her friend to attend the Church feast had to face the wrath of the intolerant vigilante group from her own community.

As per unconfirmed sources, the girl visited Merlapadau church on the outskirts of the city on Sunday along with her friend.

However, she was taken to task by a bunch of men from her own community for being a part of the celebration.

Not only did the men inform her parents about her participating in an event of another community, but they even threatened and sent her away.

The matter came to the knowledge of the church, who intervened and convinced the group to settle the matter outside the church.

The issue brings to fore the tense undercurrents in the city and activities of the vigilante groups, specifically targeting the women from various communities, who have been put on watch.
