Mangaluru: District In-charge Minister U T Khader on June 30, has directed Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil to take actions to settle the Hijab row that erupted at St. Agnes College.

Speaking to media after holding a meeting with National Highway Authority officials, Khader said, “Globally St. Agnes College has good reputation and fame. Any organisation having no connection to the college should not interfere in such matters and not tarnish the image of the institution. The college management, students and their parents should sort out the issue.”

He also directed the deputy commissioner to resolve this sensitive issue by holding a meeting with people concerned.

The district administration will decide whether to take action against the organisation which had interfered in the matter or not.

It may be recalled that on June 25, some burkha clad students took to the street under the aegis of Campus Front of India and condemned the college for not allowing the students to attend the college in hijab. Later the college management had alleged that the Campus Front of India instigated the students to hold a protest against the college.
