Mangaluru: Ahead of the Karnataka High Court verdict on the Hijab issue on Tuesday March 15, the Deputy Commissioner Dr. Rajendra K. V. On Monday March 14 has declared a holiday for schools and colleges in the Dakshina Kannada District.
This has been declared as the issue involves rules regarding uniforms in schools and colleges and their enforcement, and hence after pronouncement of the judgement different reactions from different sections of the society cannot be ruled out. The examinations to be held on Tuesday are postponed too due to this background. However, examinations to be conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority will be held without any changes. Section 144 too will be in force in DK.
Even Udupi District Administration has declared holiday for schools and colleges in the wake of this issue.
Meanwhile Bengaluru Police Commissioner Kamal Pant on Monday has issued prohibitory orders, banning any gatherings, protests, as well as celebrations of any type in any public place of the City for 7 days between March 15 and March 21. In Mysuru too Section 144 will be in place till March 20.
