Mangaluru: Criticising the I-T raids on State Minister for Power and Congress leader D K Shivakumar, former union minister B Janardhana Poojary said, “When I was the union minister for finance, I have managed Income Tax Department, Customs, Excise and Rural development for years but I never misused my power.”
Slamming Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Poojary said that the I-T Officers had raided 39 places belonging to D K Shivakumar by using the CRPF forces. “Is D K Shivakumar a terrorist? Have you raided his residence with a search warrant? There are certain policies even to conduct raids. Have you followed it? After you (Modi) assumed office, you have ensured 1138 raids in the country. What is the total amount you have recovered from these raids? Modi wants no one to question him. We are in a democratic setup and you cannot be a dictator like Hitler. You (Modi) think that no one can question you? Today you have raided the residence of D K Shivakumar. Tomorrow you may raid Poojary’s residence and day after tomorrow you may raid Sonia Gandhi’s residence?
You just want to finish off Congress in Gujarat by defeating Ahmed Patil. In the coming elections, people will teach you a lesson.”
On Ramanatha Rai using derogatory comments against him, Poojary said, “He has apologised to ME shedding tears. Hence I have forgiven him.”
