Mangaluru: Home Minister and President of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee Dr. G Parameshwara announced an increment in the financial benefits of Karnataka Police during his visit to the city. “The revised increment specially meant for the police is around 22 percent and they should accept it for their benefits”, he mentioned.

Speaking to the members of the media at the Circuit House on Friday, November 18, Dr. Parameshwara said, “As per the report given by senior police officer Auradkar, the payment of all police officers in Karnataka has been revised. Uniform allowance for the police personnel has been increased to Rs. 500 per month as against Rs. 100 earlier.”

Mentioning about the  compensation given by the government for the risk faced by policemen, the minister said, “Taking into account the risk faced by the policemen on duty, adequate compensatory cover was not given earlier. But according to the new revision, the risk allowance has entitled the policemen for an extra Rs. 1000 per month.”

“Before the same revision, a policeman had to wait a minimum of 25 years to get a promotion. But according to the new policy, a junior constable can get his first promotion in 10 years and the second in another decade. The same police officer will retire as a sub-inspector after receiving three promotions in his entire service span”, he said while speaking about the promotion revision and announcing the promotion of 1,100 police constables to head constables soon.

Addressing the media on topics that gained several contradictions, Dr. Parameshwara said that his presence at former minister Janardhana Reddy’s daughter’s wedding was on a personal note. “Reddy had visited my home personally and invited me for his daughter’s wedding, which is why I attended it as a person and not as a President of KPCC. Congress party was not responsible for asking us to attend the wedding”, he clarified.

AICC Invites Poojary to Indira Gandhi’s Centenary Celebration

Speaking about the centenary birthday celebration of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Parameshwara said, “The celebration will not be held in a grand manner and there is no relation between the celebration and several taluks being drought-hit. Citizens of the land must know about the policies of Indira Gandhi which were people-friendly. And for the same reason we are conducting this event.”

“Having served Indira Gandhi during her term as Prime Minister, senior Congress leader and former Union Minister B Janardhana Poojary has already been invited to the centenary celebration over the phone by All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Digvijay Singh. We respect Poojary’s political career and hope that he attends the programme”, he mentioned.
