Bantwal: In a lightening operation, police traced large volumes of sand stored illegally in Kanyana area of Vittal police station limits on March 11.
Preliminary estimates suggest, one Sridhar Shetty had stocked around 450 metric tonnes of sand in Shiramkallu hideout by hoodwinking law agencies.
The seized stocks were handed over to the state mines and geology department by the police team. Additional Superintendent of Police Vedamurthy and Vittal sub inspector led the raiding team.
