Mangaluru: The hugging saint Mata Amrutanandamayi Devi, popularly known as ‘Amma’ will visit Mata Amritanandamayi Math in Boloor during Brahmastana Mahotsava programme scheduled on March 8 and 9.
‘Amma’ is expected to participate in the programme on both days. Over 50,000 devotees are also expected to participate and hug Amma on the occasion. Informing about the programme Mata Amrutanandamayi Seva Samiti president Prasadraj Kanchan on Tuesday, March 5 said, there will be various religious rituals like Navagraha Shanti Homa, Maha Sudarshana Homa, Bhavati Homa, Alankar pooja among others, both days. There will also be bhajan and satsang programmes, wherein thousands of devotees will participate, he said.
“Amma’s visit is expected to draw devotees from in and around Mangaluru and the other centres in Karnataka and outside Karnataka. Amma will hug each and every individual devotee, who visits her during darshan. Devotees need not wait in a long queue as the token numbers will be displayed in a screen with English alphabet number and devotees can go and visit when their alphabet number is displayed “, he added.
About the stage programme Kanchan said, “the stage programme will include wheelchair distribution to physically challenged persons and scholarship distribution. A total of 25 wheelchairs will be distributed and Rs 50,000 scholarship will be distributed to the talented economically backward students. Dakshina Kannada district in-charge Minister U T Khader, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Corporation Bank managing director PV Bharathi, Taranga weekly managing editor Dr. Sandhya S Pai, MLA Vedavyas Kamath, Mayor Bhaskar K among others will be the chief guest at the programme, he informed.
Committee former president Vaman Kamath, secretary Suresh Amin, media coordinators Vasudev Boloor and Madhav Suvarna were present at the press conference.
