Kasaragod: A man has been nabbed by the police while cases have been slammed against his family members after his wife was found dead under mysterious circumstances.
The arrested is Sadiq (25) from Bedradka of Kambar in Kasaragod. His wife Faiza (25) died on October 21 in a local hospital after she was rushed there in a critical state. It is now alleged that her in-laws had harassed her for dowry, which subsequently led to her death. Cases have been registered against Sadiq’s mother Aisamma (45) and two other relatives named Rubeena (30) and Suneenath (27).
As per Faiza’s family members, Sadiq had informed them that Faiza has been admitted to a hospital, but by the time they reached the hospital, Sadiq and his family members had left the place, which sparked suspicion among Faiza’s family members. The dead body of Faiza was forwarded to Periyaram for post mortem and the report states that Faiza was five months pregnant and that the fetus has died in the womb. Further, Faiza was profusely bleeding too, but the clear reason for her death is yet to be ascertained.
It is said that Faiza had filed a case against Sadiq and his family in 2012 complaining of domestic violence and dowry harassment. Following this, Faiza had started living in her maternal home for quite some time. But, soon the two families met and settled the matter through negotiation and Faiza was convinced to return to her husband’s house. But, it is said that harassment from husband and the in-laws never stopped. She had told her parents that she was even deprived food. Investigations are on.
