Belthangady: In a distressing event, a man is accused of strangling his wife to death and subsequently disposing of her body in a well due to suspicions of an extramarital relationship.
The deceased woman has been identified as Sasikala (27), residing in Kempanottu, Belalu village, Belthangady taluk. Sasikala and Sudhakar, who fell in love and subsequently got married seven years ago, have a six-year-old daughter. Recently, a dispute arose between the couple due to suspicions of Sudhakar having an extramarital relationship with another woman. To address this issue, Sasikala’s family members would frequently visit and console her. On the morning of November 3, Sudhakar Naik returned home early after working on tapping rubber and arrived home at 7 am. Sasikala questioned her husband about his early return, inquiring whether any women would visit their home after she left for work.
Sudhakar and Sasikala engaged in a heated argument over the matter, which escalated to the point where Sudhakar attempted to murder his wife by strangling her. In a tragic turn of events, Sasikala’s brother, Shashidhar, filed a complaint with the police, accusing Sudhakar of attempting to kill his unconscious wife. According to the complaint, he alleged that Sudhakar threw her into a well within their courtyard with the intent of ensuring her demise. However, Sudhakar feigned innocence, claiming that his wife had taken her own life by jumping into the well. The truth emerged when the police took him into custody and conducted an interrogation.
