Mangaluru: South Kanara Photographers’ Association (R), Dakshina Kannada district submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner Rajendra K. V., recently.
In the memorandum, the photographers have urged the DC to look into the hardships they were facing beginning the last lock down. Furthermore, they have brought to his notice to urge the government not to impose lockdown in month of April and May.
They have proposed to instead introduce certain curbs based on Covid guidelines as these are the months that helps them generate some additional income, being peak season as far as events such as weddings are concerned. They also requested the DC to inform the police authorities to help them travel safely in the night during curfew hours when faced with work, after verifying their identity through ID cards.
The representative of DK photographers made the DC understand that the memorandum comes in the wake of hardships faced by them during this pandemic times.
“We are facing threats and compulsions from bank to pay up various loans including that we have taken to buy cameras and accessories, which are expensive. This has led to many incidents of suicide among the fraternity. Further, we have not been provided any cash assistance from the government like the other sectors,” they stated in the memorandum.
