Sullia: Second of its kind incident in the taluk, the Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths nabbed a Village Account on Tuesday red-handed while accepting bribe for disposing off a title deed issue.
Mandekolu Gram Panchayat VA Mahesh is the arrested.
He had allegedly taken Rs 45,000 from complainant Gopalkrishna Bhat from Totampady.
Mahesh was arrested and the bribe amount was seized from him by ACB DySP Sudhir Hegde.
Bhat said that Mahesh had kept forth a demand for Rs 60,000 for clearing his papers, out of which he had taken Rs 5,000 earlier. He had later said that while he needs Rs 45,000, he had to pay Rs 12,000 to the Revenue Inspector. Unable to put up with the persistent demands of the VA, Bhat complained to the ACB and got him arrested.
