Mangaluru: As heavy rain lashed in several parts of Dakshina Kannada district on Saturday, July 7, several incidents of waterlogging and damage to properties are being reported.

The cloudy skies, gloomy weather and incessant rainfall during the weekend have turned the city life dull as several residents chose to remain indoors.

Roads quite literally turned into rivers as they were submerged under a mix of rainwater and sewage water, much to the dismay and inconvenience of the commuters.

A portion of the compound wall at the government school in Gandhinagar, Mannagudda collapsed under the strain of water.

The water level on Nethravati River near Sahasralingeshwara temple of Uppinangady, popularly known as Sangama Kshetra, has reached 23.5 meters. The danger level for this stretch is set at 26.5 metres. The district administration has deployed 3 swimmers, 5 home guards for rescue operations in areas surrounding the Uppinangady temple.
