Mangaluru: Timely first aid can save a life, but sometimes the emergency personnel cannot reach the spot due to traffic congestion. In an effort to beat the traffic and reach patients quickly, a private hospital in the city has launched an innovative ambulance service.
Father Muller Medical College Hospital has launched a mobile bike ambulance service for the first time in the history of Mangaluru to provide speedy assistance during an emergency.
On receiving a call for help, two bike-borne paramedical professionals trained in Advanced Cardiovascular Life support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) will zoom to the emergency location to provide life-saving first aid, handle the situation and provide necessary healthcare. The newly acquired bike-ambulance has a well stocked basic first aid kit.
The hospital authorities informed that people can avail the facility by calling 0824-2238333/22238332 in an emergency.
Considering the ever-increasing traffic situation in the city, this service will help in giving speedy emergency care that can save a life, an official of the hospital said.
