Mangalore: International Day against Drug Abuse was observed by the Mangalore unit of the Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project and the city unit of Jana Jagrithi Vedike in front of the DC office here on Thursday June 26.
Harikrishna Punaroor, former president of Kannada Sahitya Parishat, K Devadas Hebbar, State President of Jana Jagrithi Vedike, Vivek Vincent Pais, its Director, Mohammad Ismail, Founder President of the city unit of the Vedike, K Sadashiva Shetty, former president, Sampath Kumar, Director of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project, Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, President of District Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Sridhar Holla, city unit President of Jana Jagrithi Vedike and others were present.
At University College : The Day was also observed at the University College in association with Mangalore South Police station and Link De-Addiction Centre. Dr Olinda Pereira, Vice President of Link and Founder of Vishwas Trust, inaugurated the programme.
MCC Mayor Mahabala Maarla, Prof Vinutha Rai, Nodal Officer of the Youth Red Cross Society of Mangalore University, Dr Satyanarayana Mallipattana Principal of University College, Dr Anish Bhat, psychiatrist, Prabhaker Sriyan, President of DK District Red Cross Society and others were present.
Gertrude Veigas, Deputy Director of the Department of women and Child Welfare, administered oath against drug abuse to students.
