Mangalore : MG Hegde, leader of Tulunada Rakshana Vedike has alleged that there have been widespread irregularities in the process of inviting global tenders for disposal of  unused mining machinery at the Kudremukh Iron Ore Company, a government of India enterprise which is now closed.

Speaking to the media in the city on Friday April 25, he said of the  three companies  which had responded to the global tenders,  Annam Steel Private Ltd of Chennai was awarded the  tender. If the  value of the old machinery at the company is valued at over Rs 900 crores, the tender amount is a meagre Rs 277 crore giving room for suspicion., he said adding had the KIOCL officials been sincere enough then they could have ensured  higher revenue for the government.

He alleged that the irregularities in the tender process has incurred losses to the government.

Hegde further  said the bank guarantee form provided by the company was blank making it evident that the KIOCL had relaxed rules to benefit the contractors. He also demanded high level probe into the case.

Yogish Shetty, President of the Vedike, Jyothika Jain, Srikanth Salian and others were present.
