Mangaluru: MLC Ivan D’Souza has informed that he is also an aspirant for a ticket in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and is ready to contest from the Mangaluru Lok Sabha constituency if the Congress high command will allow him to contest.
Addressing the media at his office on Saturday, December 15, Ivan said, “I have already approached the Congress high command and sought the ticket for the Lok Sabha election. As I have executed my responsibilities well as a Member of the Legislative Council, I am confident of winning the election.”
“Voters from the Christian community are more in the Mangaluru Lok Sabha constituency and the population of the minority community is one of the deciding factors in winning the election. Hence, I have approached the high command and informed them of the situation prevailing in the constituency. However, I will abide by their decision,” he added.
Responding to a query about former union minister B Janardhana Poojary’s willingness to contest in the election, Ivan said, “If Poojary aspires to contest in the election, he also has the right to seek a ticket, being a senior leader of the Congress party, As Christian voters are more here, I am preparing to contest”.
