Mangaluru: MLA J R Lobo on Friday said that the prime lakes of Mangaluru-Gujjarakere and Bairady will be developed with the help of minor irrigation department.
Speaking after laying foundation for the development of two lakes in Kordabbu temple in Tardollya he said, “The minor irrigation department has granted Rs 50 lakhs for the development of lakes which will help in improving ground water level.”
“The government has granted Rs one crore for the rejuvenation of Gujjarakere lake where drainage water flows down to the lake due to which hard hyacinth has been growing. The drainage works at the lake is also underway at the cost of Rs 4 crores, ” he added.
Local corporators Praveen Chandra Alva, Surendra, ward president Sudhakar J, Kordabbu temple president Sadananda Alva and others were present.
