Bantwal: At a time when the farmers in coastal region are in distress due to various reasons, Mangaluru South MLA J R Lobo’s visit has brought some sort of relief to them.
J R Lobo visited Peruvai village on Tuesday, August 2 and heard the grievances of the farmers. He also visited the residences of farmers in the village and discussed various issues pertaining to agriculture.
“Areca and rubber growers have been under crisis. Fall in market prices and improper yields have distressed the farmers. Hence, I would raise this issue in the Vidhana Sabha and bring this issue to the notice of the government. We will also pressurise the state government to announce support price for areca and rubber crops,” said Lobo.
Though farmers across the state have ended lives following crop failure, farmers in the coastal region have become role models for others by growing mixed crops. Hence, farmers should focus on mixed crops, he suggested.
