Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee termed the “Janashirvad Yatra”, which was held at Nehru Maidan on Tuesday March 20, as successful. Congress said the Yatra was evidence to the fact that secular forces were growing stronger in the district.
Addressing a press meet at the district Congress office, District In-charge Minister Ramanath Rai thanked the people and party workers for making the convention, attended by AICC President Rahul Gandhi, a success. He said, “The rally was successful. The people and party workers had participated in the convention more than we had anticipated.”
Rai also said, “This was possible because of the Congress party activities like Mane Manege Congress, formation of booth committees and developmental works of MLAs in their respective constituencies. The people have also realised that the Congress government is a “Nudidanthe Nadeda Sarkara” (Govenment that walks the talk) .This also reflects the failure of the Narendra Modi-led BJP government in the centre.”
Congress District President Harish Kumar, Mayor Bhaskar K Moily, former mayor Kavitha Sanil and others were present.
