Mangaluru: The original name of Masjid in Ayodhya was not Babri Masjid ,but it was only `Janmastan Masjid`. This Janmastan Masjid was constructed after demolishing the seven-storied Rama Mandir in the year 1528, informs a book `Sri Ram Janmabhoomi` penned by Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Dr. P Ananthakrishna Bhat, which was released at VHP’s office `Vishwashree` on Friday, November 23.
The book comprises the details of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya and the sacrifice of Hindus for its reconstruction. The book was released by VHP state unit president M B Puranik. After releasing the book, Puranik said, though there was Ram Mandir in Ayodhya it was demolished during the administration of Mughals. “It is the right of the Hindus to reconstruct the Mandir and government should respect the sentiments of the Hindus“, he said.
The author of the book Ananthakrishna Bhat said,“Janmastan Masjid was constructed by Mughal emperor Babar’s commander Meer Baki after demolishing the seven-storied Ram Mandir. The name `Babri Masjid` was given by replacing the name of `Janmastan Masjid` in order to argue that it was not the birthplace of Sri Rama. But, the name `Janmstan` itself says that it was the birthplace of Rama“, he said.
“Though 80 Kar Sevaks (Hindu devotees) laid down their lives during Babri Masjid demolition in the year 1992, over three lakh Hindus sacrificed their lives between 1528 and 1934. As the archeological department also confirmed that there was Ram Mandir in Ayodhya prior to Babri Masjid, Court should not delay to give its verdict“, he said.
VHP district president Jagadish Shenava and Mangaluru unit secretary Sharan Pumpwell were present.
