Mangaluru: State Minister for Kannada and Culture Dr. Jayamala on Wednesday voiced her support for the inclusion of Tulu language in school syllabus and asked Tulu Sahitya Academy President A C Bhandary to submit an application to the government for it.
Speaking at the felicitation programme organised by the Tulu Sahitya Academy in collaboration with the Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy, Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy in Tulu Bhavana here, Dr. Jayamala assured to develop Tulu Bhavana into a centre for development of Tulu language and culture.
Replying to Tulu Sahitya Academy President A C Bhandary’s request for financial assistance for setting up a Tulu Museum for the preservation of the culture at the Bhavana, Dr. Jayamala would take up the issue with the department concerned.
The minister also instructed the Registrar of Tulu, Konkani and Beary Academy Chandras B Rai to document the various works initiated by the academies in digital format for the benefit of the future generation.
President of Konkani Sahitya Academy R P Nayak, President of Beary Sahitya Academy Mohammed Karmbar, former MLA Shakunthala Shetty among others were present.
