Amidst discontent over the BJP-JD(S) coalition, 42 JD(S) office bearers made a significant move by joining the Congress party at a ceremony held at the DCC office. The event witnessed the welcoming of the JD(S) workers into the Congress fold by DCC president K Harish Kumar and KPCC campaign committee chairperson Vinay Kumar Sorake.

Sorake seized the opportunity to highlight the potential impact of Congress’ guarantee schemes in Karnataka, estimating a shift of 10% to 15% of votes from the BJP to the Congress camp. He also criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s actions during his roadshow in Mangaluru, dismissing them as mere election tactics. Sorake specifically pointed out Modi’s failure to acknowledge the Billava community’s aspirations in 2022 and the BJP government’s disregard for social reformer Brahmasri Narayana Guru’s legacy.

Emphasizing Congress’ commitment to raising awareness about state government guarantees, Sorake contrasted BJP’s promises, particularly questioning the efficacy of their Jal Jeevan Mission. Responding to inquiries regarding the INDIA alliance and SDPI’s election strategies, Sorake affirmed Congress’ coordination with INDIA partners while denying any official discussions with SDPI at the state level.

DCC president Harish Kumar echoed Sorake’s sentiments, characterizing Modi’s gestures during the roadshow as distractions from substantive issues. These developments underscore the dynamic political landscape in Karnataka, with parties maneuvering to consolidate support and address voter concerns.
