Mangaluru : 58 students of Vikas PU College, Mangaluru have qualified in the JEE Mains exams, 2017.
Total of 240 students from Vikas had appeared for the JEE Mains exams.
Among the top 1,000 in All India Rankings, 932 were boys and 68 girls.
The cut-off to appear in JEE (Advanced) has been set at 81. However, it will be different for the Scheduled Castes, the Scheduled Tribes and physically handicapped candidates.
JEE –Mains Preview
Joint Entrance Exam (JEE)-Mains is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and was held on April 2 (offline) and April 8 and 9 (online). Students eligible in this exam appear for JEE-Advanced which will be the eligible exam for getting a seat in India Institutes of Technologies, National Institute of Technologies and other government-funded technical institutes.
II PUC/ 12th grade marks not considered for Mains but..
As per the official information from CBSE website the JEE pattern for 2017 said that it would not consider the 12th class marks for JEE (Main) examination. However, it states that if a candidate needs to qualify for the admission in the IITs/NITs/IIITs and such other CFTIs whose admissions are based on the JEE (Advanced)/JEE (Main) ranks, they should have secured at least 75% marks in the 12th class examination, or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th class examination conducted by the respective boards. For SC/ST students the qualifying marks would be 65% in the 12th class examination.
