Job fraud: 19 youth stranded in Kuwait, reach Mangaluru

Mangaluru: As many as 19 men who were stranded in Kuwait after going there on assurances of employment have finally returned to their hometown, Mangaluru on Friday, July 19. They arrived in the city via a bus from Mumbai at 7.30 AM.

Patrick Fernandes (Bhatkal) Jagadish, Ashiq, Parthik (Udupi), Mohommad Hasan, Mohommed Ismail (Kolnad), Abdul Majeed (Karkala), Mohommed Sohail, Mohommed Shakeer (Ullal), Abdul Latheef (Thumbe), Fayaz (Kuthar), Abubakar Siddique (Bajal) have reached Mumbai, said sources.

The air tickets of the 19 from Kuwait to Mumbai and their bus tickets to Mangaluru from Mumbai have been arranged by Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyas Kamath.

The efforts of MLA Kamath in getting the 19 youth out of Kuwait has been lauded by all.

It may be recalled that 34 youth from coastal districts, who had been to Kuwait through a job agency were left in dire straits when the employer denied them even basic facilities, including food and salary. That is when the youth made a video urging Kamath to help and instantly the MLA plunged into action and promised the youth that he will make all possible efforts to get them back to Mangaluru.

A batch of these youth landed in Mumbai on Thursday and reached Mangaluru on Friday.
