Mangaluru: Forty kids of Saanidhya Residential School and Training Centre for Mentally and Physically Challenged at Shaktinagar were presented with hampers of toys, playthings and books by Johnlyn Toy Exchange and Book Bank on April 26.

Volunteers from Johnlyn Toys, apart from presenting the hampers and treating the kids with light refreshments, conducted a shorter version of the Bondel Laughter Club session, anchored by John Monteiro, the promoter of Johnlyn Toys. Participatory games were also conducted for the children and the winners were awarded special toys.

Established in 2003, Saanidhya is managed by a team of committed, specialised professionals headed by Vasant Kumar Shetty, Administrator and 40 dedicated staff and support persons. It admits and nurtures differently-abled children like those affected by autism, cerebral palsy, mental retardation and multiple disabilities.

About Johnlyn Toy Exchange and Book Bank

Johnlyn Toy Exchange and Book Bank, launched in January 2018, collects toys and books in good condition from those who no longer have any need for them and distributes these toys and books among the have-nots. John Monteiro said that the campaign had elicited generous media support and popular response but needed sustained support from more donors to reach 2,200 children in the target group – of whom only 120 could be catered to so far under three outreach programmes. Prospective donors can contact John Monteiro on mobile number 98862 76608.
