Mangaluru: In order to control the spread of the COVID-19 after declaring a lockdown in the country, several hospitals have suspended OPD services in the Dakshina Kannada district. In view of this, several patients are in need of timely personal consultations with doctors and are facing troubles without getting proper medicinal advice. Realizing this, the Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences, Natekal, has started online tele-consultation services in the constituent Kanachur Hospital & Research Centre.

Patients can contact doctors from the comfort of their homes. The doctors will give medical advice for their health problems through WhatsApp. As per the Kanachur Hospital’s announcement, specialist doctors from nine departments will be available for tele-consultations from 9 AM to 4 PM.

Apart from this, those from rural areas who don’t have social media service like WhatsApp can directly contact the concerned department specialists over the phone by giving details about the disease and obtain advice from the doctors through the hospital landline number 0824-2888000. The time limit for each phone call is 10 minutes and the patients are requested to give appropriate information so that they can obtain a consultation from the doctors.

The hospital has also opened a fever clinic for the welfare of the patients, which will be operational from 9 AM to 4 PM on all working days. It is located at the entrance of the hospital.

As usual, the Emergency Medicine, ICU, OBG and Paediatrics Departments with the specialised doctors will be available 24×7.

Patients are requested to provide their details through WhatsApp at the below numbers along with their name, age, sex, weight and details of the ailments.

Details of previous prescriptions must also be given without fail. After verifying all these details, the concerned doctors will call the patients or mention the suitable medicine in a prescription slip with their registration no. and WhatsApp the same. Patients can purchase the prescribed medicine at their nearby pharmacy once this is done.
