Karnataka Weather Update; IMD predicts moderate rain in south interior

Due to a trough in sea levels, Karnataka is preparing for significant rainfall in a number of areas. IMD Bengaluru scientist A. Prasad has alerted coastal and southern areas to high rainfall and stressed the possible impact of cyclonic conditions.

Mangaluru: The India meteorological department predicts moderate rain in the south interior on December 9, followed by rain in coastal districts on Sunday and Monday, December 10-11.

The regions expected to receive 25 to 50% rainfall include Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Bagalkote, Belgaum, Dharwad, Koppal, Gadag, Bellary, Bangalore City, Rural: Chamarajanagar, Chikkaballapur, Chikkamagaluru, Chitradurga, Hassan, Kodagu, Kolar, Mandya, Davangere, Mysore, Ramanagara, Shimoga, Tumkur, and some parts of Vijayanagar district.

Rain is anticipated at a few places in the south interior during the next 48 hours, while coastal and northern hinterlands may experience dry spells.
