Mangaluru: Kavita Trust in association with Konkani Natak Sabha organizes 19th Konkani Poetry recitation competition at Don Bosco Hall on Sunday, September 1.
The competition was inaugurated by All India Konkani Parishad winner Melwin Rodrigues by lighting the lamp and said it is the proper recital of the poem gives meaning to the theme of poet.
The competition was held in three categories – below 15 years, 15 to 30 years and above 30 years.
Alvina Monteiro of Paldane Parish bagged the 1st prize, Jiyanna D’Mello, Cascia Parish and Chrisel D’Souza, Milar Parish bagged the 2nd and 3rd prize respectively in the category of below 15 years.
Ostin Johana D’Cunha of Bejai Parish bagged the 1st prize and Anisha Mishel Sequeira of Bendore Parish and Priya Jyothi Pinto of Milar Parish bagged 2nd and 3rd Prize respectively in the category of 15 to 30 years.
Patsy Monteiro of Padane Parish bagged the 1st prize and Irene Mendonca of Cascia Parish and Minora Rozi Noronha of Cascia Parish bagged the 2nd and 3rd Prize in the above 30 years category.
Kavita trust distributed certificates and poetry books to all the participants.
William Pais, Averyl Rodrigues and Venkatesh Nayak were the judges.
Poet Andrew L. D’Cunha welcomed the gathering. Floyd D’Mello compered the programme, KNS General Secretary Judi D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks. Convenor Raymond D’Cunha, KNS Treasurer Jerry Concessao, Keith Furtado, Tresa Pinto, Clitus Lobo, Jossy Theodore, Boniface Pinto among others were present.
