Kenyan delegation visits city to tie up for advanced health care

Mangaluru: A ten membered delegation led by Dr Khadija Sood Shikely, Chief of Health Secretary Mombasa County, Kenya on Sunday, March 4, visited Kanachur Institute of Medical Science, Yenepoya Hospital and Mangalore Institute of Oncology, to tie up with Mangaluru city for super specialty health care needs and to develop health tourism.

Speaking to the reporters Khadija informed that the government of Mombasa County will partner with Mangaluru City in aspects to provide training to health care professional and treatment to patients from Mombasa.

“Managluru is a ‘Medical Tourism Hub’ with an advanced medical technology. The professionals from Mombasa County will come to Mangaluru to get trained especially in radio therapy, robotic surgery, spinal surgery and various other advanced treatments. Hence today we have visited three hospitals, in up coming days we will also sign MoU with these hospitals,” she said.

State minster UT Khader who was present during the press meet said, “there is provision for the people from Mombasa to come to the city to avail advanced treatment. Moreover, Mangaluru is the best destination for better treatment. The treatment cost in Mangaluru is less expensive comparatively and this is a good initiative taken by the Mangalore Health Care Tourism Task Force. It will work as a channel in the process.”

MP from Mombasa County Dr Kibuwana, Alphanso Officer from Mombasa County, Ilihana Abbas Chief Investment Officer, Dr. Muhammad Thahir of Yenepoya Hospital, Suresh Rao Director of Mangalore Institute of Oncology and UK Monu Chairman of Kanachur Institute of Medical Science and others were present.
