Kerala Endosulfan victims to get Rs 5 Lakh compensation by March 30

Kasaragod: The state government will be distributing Rs 5 Lakh to every endosulfan victim by March 30, 2017 in the first phase, in accordance with the Supreme Court order dated January 10, announced Kerala Revenue Minister E Chandrashekaran.

The minister announced the details while taking part in the meeting related to deal with the endosulfan issue at the District Collector’s office here on March 18.

The apex court had ordered the state government to distribute compensation to the affected endosulfan victims within three months of its order, dated January 10.

The meeting decided to hold a six-day medical camp in 5 different centres between April 4 and 9 to assess the present condition and treat the affected endosulfan victims.

MLA Nellikunnu, Deputy Commissioner Jeevan Babu, Zilla Panchayath President A G C Bashir and Assistant Divisional Commissioner dealing with endosulfan issue Ravindran took part in the meeting.
