Moodibidri: The students of Alva’s College bagged 3 medals and in Karnataka were placed in the 4th position in the recently concluded Khelo India School Games held in New Delhi.
Shanawaz and Suprita, representing the state from Alva’s college, bagged gold and bronze medals in high jump category, clearing a height of 2.03 and 1.63 meters respectively.
Nagendra Annappa Naik bagged bronze in Discuss Throw, clearing a distance of 50.02 metres.
Alva’s Institution group head Dr. Mohan Alva has congratulated the winners on their achievement.
It may be recalled that led by its swimmers, Karnataka surged to the top of the medals tally on the first day of swimming competition at the inaugural Khelo India School Games (KISG). The swimmers won 6 of the 9 gold medals on offer and both the boys and girls contributed 3 each. Karnataka was leading the medals tally with seven gold and three bronze for a total of 10 medals at the end of Day-1.
The state bagged 16 golds, 11 silver and 17 bronze medals in total and was placed 4th in the overall medal tally behind Haryana, Maharashtra and hosts Delhi in the games which concluded on February 8.
