Mangaluru: Kanachur Institute for Craniofacial Anomalies (KICA) under Kanachur Hospital and Research Centre (KHRC), Natekal, Mangalore, observed the 50th International Oral Maxillo Facial Surgeons (OMFS) day on February 13, 2019. ‘Road Safety Awareness’ was the theme of this years celebrations.
Dr Neha Sharma, Fellow, KICA introduced Dr Mustafa Khader, Clinical Director, Kanachur Institute for Craniofacial Anomalies who welcomed the guests on the dais.
Dr Krishnamurthy Bonanthaya, President, AOMSI expressed his gratefulness to the Kanachur Management for hosting such a wonderful program and said that the need for reduction of accidents is a must by taking added precautions on the roads.
Dr Pritham Shetty, Secretary, AOMSI, elaborated on the fact that road safety is a must and prevention of this epidemic is of priority. Dr Rohan Monis, Chief Administrative Medical Officer, Kanachur Hospital and Research Centre, represented the Kanachur Leadership team, expressing that the road users should take a pledge to be slow, sharp, sober, silent, secure and should sustain this attitude.
Dr Deviprasad Shetty, Medical Superintendent, KHRC, Heads of Maxillofacial Departments of all Dental Colleges of Dakshina Kannada, Max Fax Surgeons of the City, Principal’s, HOD’s and faculties of Kanachur group of Institutions were present for the event.
The Ceremonial Torch was lit by Dr Krishnamurthy and it was handed over to Dr Mustafa and was later taken around the gathering. The plan was to take the torch to all the clinical institutions where MaxilloFacial Surgeries were being performed, in Mangalore. Dr Mustafa thanked the organisers and the participants at the event.
Kanachur Institute for Craniofacial Anomalies, under Kanachur Hospital Research Centre, Natekal, Mangalore, is one of the only 4 institutions in India recognised by AOMSI for Fellowship in Orthognathic Surgeries.
The surgeries performed under this department are repair of cleft lip, cleft palate, post trauma repair, ear reconstructions, craniosynostosis repair, congenital malformations of jaw, face, face reconstructions, nose repairs and a wide spectrum of diseases, injuries and defects in the head, neck, face , jaws and the soft tissues of the oral and maxillofacial region.
The benefit to the patients is immense, as it helps them in life skills and aesthetic aspects too.
