Mangaluru: Following Dakshina Kannada Congress Committee Interim President Ibrahim Kodijal’s sexist statement in the dawn of Uniform Civil Code (UCC) debate, Bharatiya Janatha Party State Co-Spokesperson Sulochana G K Bhat led an attack on his statement and called out to the Muslim women to put their foot down. According to her, the UCC must come into existence and drive out injustice done to the women.

Sulochana said that a healthy debate must be conducted regarding the quick divorce system since most counties have banned triple talaaq long back. “The introduction of UCC and abolishment of triple talaaq system goes hand in hand to rescue the ladies from unnecessary trouble. As per what Kodijal had said, women do not get preference in the modern generation and they are merely used as an instrument of personal satisfaction for men. It is a shame on human kind to hear such things even in the present era of development”, she said while accusing Kodijal of being gender biased.

“We appreciate the work done by Janardhana Poojary in instating dalit women and widows as head priests of one of the most modern temples in the city. He has given women the supreme power in the temple. The BJP stand with Janardhana Poojary and appeals to him to make the members of Congress party change their attitude towards women once and for all”, she added while praising the way Poojary upholds women’s rights.

Speaking about the ladies who took the triple talaaq system to the Supreme Court, she said that the three women could not take the injustice anymore as one of them was just 18 years old when her husband divorced her. Sulochana said that the BJP mahila morcha supports Muslim women in this matter.

A grievance address has also been arranged by the BJP on this regard. Sulochana Bhat gave the following address to send the opinions to,
