Kasargod: Based on a definite tip-off, the Kumble police arrested four men involved in trading drugs illegally and seized a huge quantity of cannabis stock from them.
The arrested have been identified as Rashid (31) of Kumble Shantipalla, Latif (31) of Pukatte Dandegoli, Moideen Nawaz (21) of Uppala and Mustaq Ahmed (31).
One policeman was injured, when the accused attempted to escape the police dragnet.
Police initially arrested Rashid riding a bike on National Highway near Arikkady and seized 500 gms of cannabis. During the interrogation, he revealed Latif’s name. Police followed Latif and seized 2 kg of cannabis from him.
Subsequently, police widened their search and succeeded in nabbing Nawaz and Mustaq Ahmed. The duo travelling in a car was nabbed when police found 12 kg of cannabis in their possession.
The detained four men are said to be the kingpins of drug trade in the area. Police seized a total of 16.5 kg cannabis and an auto rickshaw and car employed by the quartet.
