KVG admin officer murder case: Seven accused acquitted

Puttur: Seven accused in the murder ofadministrative officer A S Ramakrishna have been acquitted as the charges against them were not proved in the court.

'Merely being a woman is not sufficient to secure bail', Court tells lady accused in multi-crore scam-1The accused who were acquitted by the fifth additional sessions court in Puttur are Dr Renuka Prasad, son of Venkataramana Gowda, founder of KVG Institutions, Manoj Rai, Vaman Poojary, Nagesh, Sharan, Bhavanishankar and Nagesh.

It may be recalled that A S Ramakrishna, administrative officer of KVG Medical College was murdered in broad daylight when he was out for a walk. According to reports, founder of KVG Institutions, Venkataramana Gowda had divided the assets and resposibilities managed by him between his two sons Dr Chidanand and Renuka Prasad. It is gathered, A S Ramakrishna had supported Chidanand then in this regard and Renuka Prasad was upset with that development. He hence plotted to kill Ramakrishna with the help of the other accused.

However, the court on October 21 ruled out any involvement by the seven accused in Ramakrishna’s murder and acquitted them of all the charges. Lawyers K Radhakrishna Rai, M Shantharam Shetty, Venkappa Gowda and Madhava Poojary had defended the seven accused in the court.
