Mangaluru: Lauding the Mangaluru City Police for cracking down the sensational Karthik Raj murder case ,State minister for Food and Civil Supplies UT Khader said that the BJP and allied organizations unnecessarily politicized murder of Karthik Raj for political mileage.

Citing this as the background, Khader pressed for an apology from BJP State Chief B S Yeddyurappa. “BSY must apologise for fueling tension in the region by giving the incident political colours,” he said adding the BJP’s pressure may have mislead the probe leaving the police unable to find the truth even for about six months after the incident.

Congratulating the special team that cracked the case, Khader urged the Police Commissioner to hold an inquiry into why the local police could not solve the case.

On underworld element Vicky Shetty’s involvement in the murder of Korapadi Abdul Jaleel, UT Khader said that such anti-social elements living abroad conveniently execute crime in India through local persons. “Home department has taken the issue very seriously. We cannot tolerate any innocent of any community being murdered.”

With regard to ‘Mangaluru Chalo’ rally planned by former mayor K Ashraf to show solidarity to Ahmed Qureshi, an attempt to murder accused, who was reportedly beaten up by the police, Khader said that such rallies are not required as there is no need to stand by people with criminal credentials, no matter which religion they come from.

“This case has been handed over to the CID. Why the people who are so enthusiastic in holding rally for him do not file private case in favor of him(Quereshi),” said Khader.

Congress leader Mithun Rai, Mamatha Gatti and others were present during the press meet.
