Mangaluru: Slamming MLC Ivan D’Souza for his allegations against BJP, leader and former MLC Monappa Bhandary termed that lies were the basic mantra of Congress.
Addressing a press meet at BJP district office, Bhandary said that several developmental projects were undertaken in the state during the BJP’s regime while the Congress had only inaugurated programmes introduced by BJP during it’s term.
Terming that MLC Ivan D’ Souza had gone blind on BJP developmental work, Monappa Bhandary said, “It was during the BJP rule the budget of state was increased. It was during the BJP’s regime that JOC teachers were made permanent and increment in salaries given to the teachers. Then BJP government had sanctioned 195 colleges including 11 engineering colleges and created employment opportunities for the youth.”
Commenting on Janata Dal (S) candidate for the South West Teachers’ Constituency S L Bhoje Gowda, Monappa Bhandary alleged that as the JDS candidate was tainted with corruption charges, he was sacked from the position of vice president of Karnataka State Bar Council.
BJP leaders Kishor Rai, Ravishankar Mijar and others were present.
Congress and JDS candidates are luring voters with cookers, TV and cash, he further alleged.
