Bantawala: Lightning struck various areas in Dakshina Kannada district on Sunday evening, resulting in a coconut tree in Bantwal catching fire. The coconut tree, located in the yard of Siddique, the owner of Budoli Fathima store in Bantwal, was struck by lightning.
The lightning strike caused the coconut tree to catch fire, and the damp tree itself was consumed by the flames. Siddique, the homeowner, remarked, “We have a coconut tree in our yard, but thankfully, the family is not in any danger.” There is also a neighboring shop, but fortunately, no casualties were reported.
Promptly after the lightning strike, the coconut tree ignited, prompting rickshaw drivers to capture the incident on their mobile phones.
