Bantwal: A speeding lorry toppled after driver lost control over it and hit an electric pole near Talapady in BC Road on Tuesday, March 15.
Sathish Shetty(38) who was standing at the bus stand, suffered serious injuries and has been rushed to a private hospital in Mangaluru.
The incident took place when the lorry heading from BC Road to Mangaluru carrying watermelon hit the bus stand and then an electric pole. It is learnt that the driver lost control over the vehicle. The bus stand was completely damaged in the mishap and the electric pole too was broken. Both driver and helper managed to flee.
Bantwal town traffic police inspector Chandrashekharaiah,, circle inspector Belliyappa visited the spot.
Soon after the mishap, the locals were busy carrying watermelon fallen on the road.
